It's hard for me to believe that a year ago today I posted my first story in AI fandom, a little bit of domestic knifeplay that I'm still surprised was so well received. In a lot of ways this has been the worst year of my life but writing in this fandom has helped me through it, and continues to help me through it.

So here's how this collection came about: I took my

plaguedbymen bingo card, overlayed it with my original kink bingo card, and wrote whatever it told me to. Which is how I ended up with Kris/Jared Padalecki "enemas" (no, don't go anywhere!) and Kris/Andrew DeRoberts "silence", among other things. I did a cross configuration because...well, there's no significant meaning there. I wanted to write the Cale, Andrew and Dean Winchester squares and they were in different rows.

It seems somehow fitting to me that my first story in this fandom was the first story off my kink bingo card last year, and with these anniversary stories I finally retire that same card before moving on to a shiny new card for 2010. (And you'd better believe I have big plans for this year's kink bingo.) And no worries, I haven't forgotten I owe people fic. It's all coming, but I needed to get this out there today. :)

There's a funny story behind how this became my

blackdress_adam story instead of what I originally started, but...well, it's probably a story for another time. I always knew I was going to fuse him with Highlander, though. With special thanks to

stickmarionette, who believed in me even when I wasn't sure. ♥

This should still be comprehensible even if you don't really know Highlander canon. The Lord Byron in this story is the one depicted on the show (episode 518: The Modern Prometheus), but other than some creative liberties taken by the source canon he's still the historical figure. And for anyone who knows Highlander but not necessarily the referenced episode, the man identifying himself as Doc Adams during this time period is better known as Adam Pierson, or Methos.

Now he's leading a small group of people who've stayed behind in a city ravaged by disease and violence when he gets word that someone from his past might still be alive out there. But ten months after the first outbreak, Kris doesn't know what he's really going to face if he tracks Adam down.
Contains: Violence; implied and stated non-primary character death; religious (Christian) overtones. Generally, the kinds of things you'd expect from the apocalyptic scenario described.

For fans of AI8 only: The only knowledge of Supernatural that you really need is what's contained in the summary: a demonic virus has been unleashed into a world where demons and angels walk the earth, and it's pretty much unstoppable.
For fans of Supernatural only: This is set in the post-apocalyptic future depicted in 5.04: The End, but contains no characters from Supernatural. Without familarity with the contestants of AI8 and their circles it will likely read like a story about what a bunch of OCs are doing while Castiel is having orgies and Dean is trying to kill the devil, which might well be interesting in its own right.
For fans of neither: It's an apocalypse? And (fictional) apocalypses are always awesome.
