It's October 31, which means it's time for the annual sharing of Zombie Night in Canada! Twenty-five tracks of zombirockapunkabilly. :D

Less than eight hours till the start of nanowrimo in my time zone. At least I've finally figured out what I'm writing? In the meantime, I'm in the mood to write some horror/creepy/dark shorts for the rest of today....
I've actually been meaning to make this post for a couple of weeks, because when I finally hooked up my old desktop computer for the first time in over two years to retrieve whatever writing I had on it that I hadn't transferred before I moved, I rediscovered some old mixes I made and figured I might as well throw them up for download somewhere. Some of them also have very lousy cover art which you should feel free to ignore and/or destroy. :)

Metaphysical Songs
Okay, this one isn't old, this is the soundtrack for the Supernatural Big Bang story I wrote last year. But I know that not everyone on my friends list does Supernatural—and even if they do, they don't necessarily do gen season 1 AU—and I think this holds up in its own right as a steampunk/weird West-inspired two-disc compilation even if you don't know the story, so I'm including it here too.

He Said She Said
This is a mix I put together for the Toronto nanowrimo CD exchange in...2005? Inspired by the novel I wrote not that year but in 2003, it's a collection of covers by women of songs that were originally recorded by men and vice versa.

Inside the Manor Gates
Random Malfoy family mix. I don't think there was a reason for this one, a bunch of people were just making fanmixes around that time and I got inspired. I think I even posted this one to my LJ way back when, but I'm so not going back and hunting that entry down now. Three songs for each Malfoy, bookended by themes for the whole family.

I'll Be Watching You - the Harry/Draco super 80s mix
This...is just what it says on the box. :D I listened to it for the first time in forever the other day and suddenly remembered I used to have a burned copy that I listened to on the way to and from work before I got an iPod. I wonder what happened to it. Anyway, this was definitely made before Book 7, but might've been before Book 6, too. Not that that really matters, because I'm years out of HP fandom, so mostly this is just an 80s megamix now. :D

Okay, I need some opinions if you've got 'em.

I'm working on my soundtrack for my Big Bang story, which I've already whittled down from the 900 or so songs I actually listened to as inspiration for it to about 35 songs, but I'm still trying to get it smaller (aiming for 20). My question is this: do I really need to do this? Is 35 songs too long for a playlist? It's obviously too long for a CD, or double CDs, but do people actually burn soundtracks/playlists like this to CD anymore?

Is anyone even going to listen to it? Am I thinking too hard about this? XD
I'm making a huge writing push today and feel like I could really use some new music to get me through it. Anyone got anything they can give/recommend to me? Really hoping for some movie/tv instrumental scores, if you've got 'em...
This is probably a longshot, but does anyone out there have the original Queer As Folk (UK) soundtrack that they have uploaded / can upload for me? I used to have most of the songs but I lost them in a hard drive crash years ago and I've had this unbelievable urge to listen to them lately.

I'll totally write a ficlet or something in exchange, if that's something you're into. Just name your price. :)

Got it, thanks! Though if anyone wants to request a ficlet anyway, I'm completely blocked on everything I'm working on right now and would probably welcome the change of pace. XD Mostly writing spn / cw rpf / leverage these days.
Because it is Halloween, it is time for the annual posting of...

Zombie Night in Canada

Twenty-five tracks of zombie rockabilly. Enjoy!
So on the stretch of street that I walk every day between home and work (Yonge, for anyone who knows the territory), it's a rare day that I run into fewer than a half dozen people asking me for money for various reasons. But OMG the guy from World Vision today was so pushy. I mean, I normally at least smile at people because it's polite to acknowledge they're out there doing some pretty thankless work, but this guy chased me down the street to the point where I thought he really needed something, or maybe I'd dropped my wallet. Then, when I politely told him that I did respect what he was doing but I choose to sponsor children through Foster Parents Plan, he started arguing with me. I mean seriously, WTF? Just let it go, man. So I might've been a little rude to him towards the end, but I seriously could not believe him.

Though later on, in case I needed to balance my karma after that incident, I used my spare change to buy a copy of Outreach Connection from a really friendly man on the street corner across from Timmy's instead of crossing the street and picking up an iced cappuccino.

Also, because I haven't done an actual music post in a while, here's a song I've been listening to on repeat lately:

it's a mystery (for the next few seconds, anyway)
