Movies and Books, October 2010:
Another Country
Bedrooms and Hallways
The Guild: Season One
The Guild: Season Two
Breakfast on Pluto
A Single Man
Mamma Mia
Go Fish
Wall-E
The Men Who Stare At Goats
Blow Dry
Fantastic Mr. Fox
RockNRolla
Were The World Mine
Oh Happy Day
Queer As Folk: Series 1 and 2
21 Jump Street: Season 1
and
HG Wells - The Invisible Man
I've actually never read this before, and was surprised both by how detailed the science of the transformation was (though I probably shouldn't have been, because this era was big on the science in science fiction) and how unsympathetic the protagonist was. Enjoyed very much!
Alexander McCall Smith - The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
This was just so warm and rich. I watched the tv series last year, but I'd never read any of the books before.
China Mieville - Un Lun Dun
When I grow up, I want to be China Mieville. What he does is always astonishing.
Honoré de Balzac - Sarrasine (in English)
Someone mentioned this in the Yuletide nominations post and I was intrigued so I downloaded a copy. Just tell me something is canonically genderqueer and I'm all over it. This was a really interesting story.
Oh, and I wrote 7499 words and posted one story. Let's just pretend I was saving it all up for November and move on, shall we? My tenth nanowrimo, and I have no idea where the time's gone.

Date: 2010-11-04 03:28 am (UTC)I love seeing everything you read, wrote, watched in a month. Every month I pretend I'll be that organized but it never happens. Also I don't get even close to the amount of stuff you do so mine would be boring. I like living vicariously through you though. <3
