Man, things were going so well over the summer, I was really on track, then September came and punched me in the face.

In September I wrote 12,755 words and posted one story, which was actually just a reveal post and not a real post. I even had a to-do list of stories that I'd finished a first draft of and meant to post over the course of the month and that didn't happen either. Somehow I managed to forget how the same thing happened last year--everything starts happening again at work in September. (I can't even blame television--I'm behind on that, too.)

One month left to post my remaining kink bingo stories in progress, and then we hit Yuletide season. Huzzah!

Movies and Books, September 2012:

Imagine Me & You
Juno
Weekend
Sky High
Dead Poets Society
Mamma Mia!
The Avengers
Dark Shadows
John Carter
Murderball
Spaceballs
St Trinian's

So I did watch some movies this month. I'd say about 2/3 of those were over one weekend, too. And also:

Edgar Rice Burroughs - A Princess of Mars
Read this one for class. I just...have such issues with sexism in early science fiction and fantasy. I know it's pervasive in the era, but it just makes me angrier to see it in fiction that's supposed to be speculative. (This is also the only reason that John Carter is in the above list.)

Guy Gavriel Kay - The Wandering Fire
Still rereading my way through these; I expect I'll read the third in October. I think the middle book was always my least favourite.

Ray Bradbury - The Martian Chronicles
Also read for class. Enjoyed this one a lot more...but then, it's Bradbury. It's kind of amazing to me that I'd never actually read the whole thing before (though I'd read some of the stories). Despite my love of speculative fiction, there are still huge swaths of classics I haven't read yet.

Kameron Hurley - Infidel
I liked the first book a lot, and I actually liked this one even more. It felt tighter, and I connected with the characters more. There is a thing that happens that has generated a certain amount of discussion, and it's not that I didn't give it some serious thought, but I think I feel a certain way about it that makes it work for me in context. I know that's horribly vague. I absolutely do not want to spoil it.

Cory Doctorow - Little Brother
Also read this one for class. (I know it's just an online course, and not for traditional credit, but why bother if I'm not going to take it seriously?) It was kind of meh for me.
