The Internet Is Amazing. AMAZING.

So there's this book I vaguely remember reading when I was a kid, and for the past twenty years or so I've thought about it on and off and wished I could read it again. I'm not even sure why, because it wasn't my favourite book or anything, but something about it stuck with me, and because we lost all our books when the house burnt down I had no viable way of tracking it down since I couldn't remember the title, author, or even the character names.

Tonight I was randomly thinking about it again, and decided the internet was old enough now that maybe I might be able to track it down in time even with the very little I remembered about it. This is the exact search string I entered into google:

"monkey lost jewels model ship"

The VERY FIRST hit was someone looking for the same book as me, with an accompanying answer. Took me all of fifteen seconds, and that's including the time it took me to read the page.

Thank you, internets! You rock!

I'm so completely psyched, man! :D I was just like "Are you serious? Are you SERIOUS?" when that popped up.

Awesome. When I think about the wonders of the internet, the first thing that always pops into my head is how, when you used to not be able to remember the name of a movie or an actor or any random bit of trivia, how it would torment you for days, until you could finally think of it. And now, when that happens, I just pull out my phone, and BAM. Which, is awesome, but ngl, sometimes I miss getting that moment of revelation, when you weren't even thinking about it (this is usually when it would happen), and that name would suddenly pop into my head.

Man, I remember doing that with a friend of mine years ago. Almost a week after our original conversation, I turned to her out of the blue and said "White Lion" and she was like "Yes, that was it!" :D
